REPAIR APPLICATIONS

ELEVATOR PITS

Elevator Icon

Even though most elevator pits are made of concrete, which is a durable material, it can still be damaged by water, chemicals, and other environmental factors. Regular maintenance and proper waterproofing can help extend the lifespan of costly elevator equipment and prevent costly repairs.

WHAT CAN GO WRONG

When regular pit cleaning is done, it can reveal the following issues:

  • Visible cracks

  • Dampness on elevator shaft walls

  • Calcium deposits on walls

  • Rusted elevator equipment

Damp walls (darker colour) and rusted equipment indicate that a pit was flooded to a certain level, even if there is no water in the pit at the moment of inspection or maintenance. Calcium deposits on walls (white stains around the cracks) are a sign that there was significant flow of water at some point, even if there is no active leak when the pit is being serviced or inspected.
